Apple Lays Off 100 Employees In Digital Services Division

Apple Cuts 100 Jobs in Digital Services Shakeup

Apple Lays Off 100 Employees in Digital Services Division

Apple has laid off approximately 100 employees in its digital services division, according to a report from Bloomberg. The layoffs reportedly affected various teams within the division, including Apple Books, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Music.

Shift in Focus for Apple's Digital Services

The layoffs are part of a broader shift in focus for Apple's digital services division. The company is reportedly prioritizing its subscription services, such as Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple Arcade, while scaling back its efforts in other areas.

Apple Books, in particular, has struggled to gain significant market share against rivals like Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook. Despite introducing features such as audiobooks and a subscription service, Apple Books has failed to become a major player in the e-book market.

Focus on iPhone Event

The layoffs come as Apple prepares for its annual iPhone event, scheduled for September 9. The event is expected to feature the launch of the iPhone 15 series, as well as updates to other Apple products such as the Apple Watch and AirPods.
